My Friend's Place Wish List 2011

Thank you for your help!  Our in-kind needs are constantly changing, however below is a list of items we most frequently use on an ongoing basis.  Please check back for updates to the Wish List.

Special Requests:

Safe Haven and Clothing Closet

We accept the following clothing new or gently used (no holes, stains, or mildew):

  ·          men's and women's casual clothing, especially jeans and athletic shoes (adult sizes only)

  ·          men's and women's plus-size interview clothing

  ·          shoelaces

  ·          belts
  ·          wristwatches
We accept the following new only (please do not bring partially used or opened items):

  ·          backpacks
  ·          rain parkas
  ·          plain white t-shirts
  ·          men's boxer shorts

  ·          AA and AAA batteries
  ·          sleeping bags and fleece blankets

   ·          alarm clocks (portable and battery-powered, please!)
  ·          travel-sized toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc.)

We accept the following food items:
  ·          canned and non-perishable food (new and unopened only)
   ·          individually wrapped snacks (granola bars, chips, etc.)
Items we do not currently need: suits, socks, or children's clothing or shoes (ages 5-12).

Education, Employment, and Creative Arts Workshops

We accept the following new only:

  ·          bus tokens

   ·          ivory resume paper and blank CDs
  ·          pocket calendars for 2011
  ·          coloring books
  ·          drawing pads
  ·          composition and spiral-bound notebooks

  ·          ballpoint pens

  ·          fast food coupons and Target gift cards in $5 amounts

  ·          tempera paint (variety of colors, mid-sized bottles)

Items we do not currently need: pencils, colored pencils, rulers, glue sticks, highlighters, loose paper, or binders.

Health and Well-Being and Parenting Program

We accept the following new only:

  ·          diapers (sizes 2-5, pull-ups a plus!) and wipes

  ·          baby formula (powdered preferred)

We accept the following new or gently used:

  ·          baby clothing and shoes (infant and toddler sizes only)

  ·          potty chairs

  ·          bottles

  ·          baby blankets

  ·          fold-up strollers
  ·          learning toys (for ages 0-5)
  ·          maternity clothes
Items we do not currently need: car seats, baby baskets, plush toys and stuffed animals.

Due to limited storage capacity, we CANNOT accept the following*:

  ·          furniture (including beds, couches, and chairs)

  ·          appliances (including microwaves, computers and printers)

  ·          household items or furnishings (knick-knacks, pillows, used sheets and blankets, etc.)
  ·          DVDs or VHS cassette tapes

*Occasionally we have other needs that arise due to special events or a young person gaining housing.  If you have something to donate that you do not see on our list, please contact us first at 323-908-0011 x 116.  Thank you for your understanding.
